We as Your Guild are, above all, your representative body. Whether it is us shouting at the MPs in London against Top-Up Fees or saving our Astro-Turf on the campus - that's what we are here for. If there is anything that you feel needs to be addressed - get in touch with us!

Democracy

The Guild works for you, and is run by you! Because of this, there are various methods set up to make sure the Guild can be run your way!

Guild Council

Guild Council is the ultimate decision making body of the Guild, and can be seen as the 'parliament' of the Guild. Any member of the Guild is entitles to come along to Guild Council, providing they have filled out a councillor nomination form and had it proposed by two other students. Guild Council also has a number of under committees, from Steering to RAG, from Membership to Equalities and Ethics.If you are interested in making a difference in your time at university, and also improving your speaking and influance skills, then this is the place to be every third Thursday,

Because the Guild spent a vast amount of resources on supporting clubs and socieites, it is compulsory for a representitive from every sports club and society to be at council, and because of this, it is a great time to ask questions of the people who have the responsibility of making sure the Guild is the best it could possibly be!

 Guild Senate

If Guild Council is there to represent the students to the running of the Guild and the University as a whole, then Guild Senate is the place where academic issues are raised. Not only are members of the Guild Executive present, but senior (and we mean at the very top) members of University staff are also present to answer your questions directly.

Guild Elections

The Guild is run by members of staff, however the policy they follow is made up by Executive Officers. These officers are elected cross-campus, meaning every student is able to say who they think is able to represnt the issues they feel are the most important.Anyone can run, and the election period involves question times and campaigning sessions, so you can be sure you will be able to get the chance to really make your mind up!
