Socialising

We know that for most of you a big part of your University life will be socialising. You don’t have to be an Olympic athlete or a National Champion to get involved. All of our clubs welcome beginners and most clubs and societies have the option of social membership meaning so you can still get involved and enjoy the fun.

Individual clubs and socieites organise events, as well as the Athletic Union (AU). These range from black tie dinner dance events such as the Annual Athletic Union (AU) Ball, weekends away to Wales or a tour abroad for a week!

The AU has a fine tradition of socialising through regular trips and events as well as the odd drink here and there. Most clubs get together after their weekly Wednesday games to either celebrate in style or drown their sorrows. A good time is always ensured by the age old tradition of seshing!

This is pretty much a get together with your chosen club for some good ol’ fashioned drinking games, HOWEVER, don’t feel put off if you don’t drink alcohol, there is still a great atmosphere without a drop of alcohol involved. If seshing isn’t for you, there are many other events that you can get involved in, including meals out, video and film nights and many more. There really is something for everyone, leaving no excuses for you not to get involved!
