► Finance for audiology undergraduates 10-11

If you are planning to study Audiology at Aston University, the student support funding system is fundamentally different because your course is linked to the National Health Service (NHS).

1. Tuition Fees

Students taking the Audiology course will not have to contribute to their Tuition Fees, as these are met in full by the NHS.

2. NHS Bursaries

Students taking the Audiology course starting will be eligible to apply for the means-tested NHS Bursary. By the time you arrive at Aston, you should already have applied for a bursary and been notified of your award. The bursary is not repayable and is intended to cover some of your living costs.

There is a basic means tested Bursary available to help with living costs. Please click on this website http://www.nhsstudentgrants.co.uk/

The website allows you to calculate your bursary entitlement.

There are also grants to help older students, to help single parents and other students with dependants, to help with childcare costs, to help with disability costs, to help with housing costs and to help with practice placement costs. These grants are not automatically awarded and receipt of them will depend on eligibility rules and the means-test.

NHS Bursaries and additional grants are payable in 12 monthly instalments directly into your bank account with the exception of the first payment after you have enrolled on your course when the first two payments are made upfront.

3 Student loans for living costs
You are entitled to apply to your local authority for a student loan to help towards your living costs. The loan is paid at a reduced rate £2,324 for the academic year 2009/2010 if you live away from home and £1,744 if you live at home.
